Not Left-handed but still interesting!

Post by Billw97 »

At this past NAMM show, I was able to spent some time with a bass that I have only seen in pictures. Though it is not a left-handed bass, and though it does not belong to me, I thought for those who like reliced basses or the owner, it might be fun to see! This bass is owned by Bobby Vega and is his pride and joy....I can say this as he was very protective of her.

Bobby has become a good and trusted friend over the few short years that I have known him. Let's hope he doesn't get pissed if he finds out that I posted this. This is a 1961 Fender Jazz Bass with a natural reliced finished caused by 50+ years of hard playing. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures!

Speak not of the wayward ones here, those who play backwards and oppress us! Get out!

That bass certainly has character! I still have my starter bass, but at this point it will never see anything near that amount of playing time.

It looks like the pole pieces are missing...

Natural relic? It looks like it went through at least a house fire :P
This bass redefines "mojo" 8-)

Bobby talks about it on EMGTV:

In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

Bobby is a class act...... Love that guy. Funny and amusing to talk to.

Thanks for posting this Bill. I saw some of his prized Fenders at the EMG shop where he works. He had a few in his cube.
