Not something you see every day, but 11.5 lbs yikes
Re: Gibson RD Standard Bass Natural 1978
Call me crazy, but it doesn't look left handed... ??
Re: Gibson RD Standard Bass Natural 1978
Indeed, that's a right handed bass. And a fugly, heavy one at that.
Re: Gibson RD Standard Bass Natural 1978
I love RD's, but not the Standard with its standard J-style pickups and passive electronics. The ones with the Moog preamp are the ones to search for - the circuit board is rediculously large for the simple task it does (make your signal A LOT louder) - but on a brighter note, that also saves a lot of weight!
But no lefties were ever made I think.

Picture of the circuit board
First Act offered left handed basses inspired by the RD (but with a bolt-on neck), called the Delgada, that were pretty cool.

An RD Artist (Moog electronics version) was my first quality bass. Even though it weighed 13 pounds I loved that bass and would still have it if it had been lefty. Alas, Gibson has never made a lefthanded version of the RD.

Those pickups are not original....it didn't have J style but more G3 style pickups...
