Nice looking bass. How's the balance? I had a 6 string Thumb on loaner from a music store in Vancouver for a few days to try it out years ago. It weighed a ton and had horrific neck dive. That short upper horn didn't work very well on the 6 string.

Excuse my ignorance Mark but what do you mean 'the balance' and what is 'neck dive'? It's a lovely bass and not particularly heavy. It's a fraction heavier than my warwick corvette. You can find the warwick weight details on their site; price list.

It's a great bass! I would love to get one exactly the same in a 4 string but my taste for 6 hasn't been the fun I thought it would be and decided to focuse on 4.

"neck dive" is when you let go of the bass and the neck "dives" to the floor. In other words, the "balance" of the weight between the body and the neck/headstock is too heavy towards the headstock end.

Every Thumb I've played so far had neckdive. And this one has even more wood (i.e. more weight) to the neck, so I'd be amazed if this one doesn't :)

In that case, no. It doesn't seem to have neck dive.

I promised I'd be amazed if this one didn't, so here goes:

;)

By all means though, that's a beautiful instrument. Too bad 6 strings turned out to be not your cup of tea, I have no doubt that's a great sounding bass.

Man, that bass was a looker. I had interest a few years back from the original seller on Arni's site. Good looking bass. Enjoy! They are all slight neck heavy but if you play high enough, it wont be an issue. Yo get used to it. I bet it sounds great with the soapbar pups....
