Pedulla MVP 5

Post by markcv »

Due to a need (remember guys, I live on a boat) for a reduction in the stable I'm offering up this fine instrument for your perusal. I picked this bass up from lsimy a while back and added an Aguilar OBP-3 and a fourth pot in the standard Pedulla layout. Currently set up as stacked Vol/Vol, stacked bass/treble, mid boost/cut, and passive tone with an active/passive switch. Full disclosure: as some of you may recall, I had this bass professionally de-fretted minus the polyester finish like a real Pentabuzz, then I bought pjmuck's Buzz 4, and had this bass re-fretted by the same luthier. You can essentially call it a professional re-fret. Obviously that set me back a bit but I will not be attempting to re-coup the cost of that experiment in the sale. Call it bad timing if nothing else.

The bass is a mid 90's bass with AAA flame maple. Were I to keep it I was seriously considering sending it to Mike Pedulla for a complete refinish as she's got a bit of mojo and the grain is outstanding on this bass and it would look absolutely amazing with a new finish on it. The current price of this bass with case is about $5600 US. Plus whatever tax and shipping fees depending on where you are. A refinish is a very reasonable $750 from Mike so you can see the value with my asking price of $1500 OBO.

This bass has the 17.5 mm spacing (somewhat adjustable) and a superbly shaped neck. She's a little heavy at 9.5 lbs but not too bad. No new pics at the moment but let me know if you're interested and I can take some.

I'm selling both my 5 string basses and keeping my two 4 strings because I can keep them both in one double gig bag which doesn't take up too much space on the boat.

@Az: a thousand is what we call a "boat buck". Luckily I'm just the captain so all I have to do is make sure the boss's boat bucks are spent properly. :)

On my dad's boat we have a little plaque that says this:

boat (bəʊt)
noun

A hole in the water, surrounded by
wood, into which one pours money.

Beautiful bass, man. I love Pedulla, and they don't come up for sale often, and new prices a prohibitive.
