MusicMan Sterling 4

Post by lsimy »

In addition to thinning the herd, I'm also going through a "try some basses" phase while I can afford to. So like some of the others, I tried this one and wasn't able to hang with it. I think what has happened over the years is that I have become accustomed to playing wide 5's and now when I play 4's feel more comfortable with P-bass widths.

I got this guy new over the past month and while it's an awesome bass, will not get near as much play as my p-bass width basses and 5 string.

- 2013 Musicman Sterling 4 lefty purchased from BC
- Straploks installed
- New WD brown tortoise pickguard installed (original black one is included)
- Rosewood fingerboard
- Original Musicman hard case
- New set of EB Slinkys installed

I'd like to get $1250 shipped within the US since it is so new and would like shipping to remain within the US.

Thanks for checking it out !

That is one sweet looking Sterling. Someone should snap this up. These have a different vibe then a Stingray. Les thump and more growl! The thinner neck is lightning fast and the playability of these basses is insane. I have a fretless Sterling and it has bet out every other fretless I have owned.

Thanks for the bump Crabby ! This is a great bass, just not for me these days. It's funny, growing up learning, I always wanted a Soundgear bass due to their incredibly thin necks at the nut and I would look at P-basses and think, "who the hell would play a neck that big ?!?!?!?" HA ! Here I am. I can't seem to adjust to anything smaller these days due to so many years on that damn wide spaced Modulus 5 !

Oh well, live, experience and learn. Someone grab this one !! It's nice !! Fretboard was oiled during the string change as well.

Sterlings are the tits. I used to have fretless (which I ordered new) and it was sick, and also had a fretted one. For whatever strange reason I sold them both years ago, but have fond memories. I'm enjoying my SR5 greatly right now.

Sterlings are easily my favorite EB bass model. Mine was my #1 live bass for years (when I was playing out a LOT more). And no anemic G string either!
