Family portrait

Here are my lefty basses, L to R: 2010 Hofner Ignition, 1975 Fender P, early-80's custom ESP. The Fender is my main bass these days, fantastic tone with a beautiful chunky neck. Like many 70's Fenders this one is pretty heavy at 11.5 lbs but I'm not complaining as the tone and playability is great. The Hofner gets used when I want the 60's short-scale hollowbody / Macca tone, strung with Pyramid Gold flats this little bass nails that tone quite well. I have owned and played the ESP since 1987, so we've been together for 26 years now. The nut widths on ESP and Fender are identical at 1.625" (B width), but the neck shapes are quite different, the Fender is more of a baseball bat, thick and chunky with a pronounced shoulder and the ESP neck is thinner back-to-front with more of a C shape.
