G&L L2500 1997 Blueburst

Post by crabby »

I am thinking of letting this one go to thin the heard a bit. This is an older L2500 from 1997 and has a gorgeous highly figured birds eye maple neck and headstock. Bass is all original save for the string thru mod (completely reversible) which keeps the bridge locked down tight and is reported to be a highly regarded upgrade to ensure the bridge stays locked down. The bass is in fantastic condition with only some superficial light scratches on the back (nothing thru the paint). The photo of the back in bright sunlight makes the scratches really stand out in the sun but they are much less noticeable in person. I have very recently had the bass professionally serviced and had the following done:

1. Pro fret dressing to address a small high spot on one of the frets. There is very little wear on any of the frets but this dressing made it feel like new.
2. New Switchcraft input jack installed. (exact factory replacement)
3. All pots and switches cleaned.
4. New Slinky strings 45-130) and setup.

This bass has insane tone and the various pickup configurations are really something. You can really nail so many different tones and they all sound good. The pre amp can be fully bypassed as well for full on passive mode. These are fairly rare finds from this vintage and the neck alone is really something to behold. Comes with a very nice quality (non original) gig bag with thick padding and several large pockets. With the recent work done, she is completely ready to go. Selling for $900 plus shipping. Trades considered. Would greatly prefer to keep this within Canada if possible.

Had a chance to see the right hand version of this bass up close and personal last week on my Wednesday night gig/jam... The bass sounded great, the string spacing was narrow like I like it ( I'm guessing 17.5-18mm?), and it wasn't too heavy. The price is great on this bass, but until I thin my own herd, I'm just going to have to pass on this... good luck on your sale!

Thanks fivebass, She is a sweetheart for sure. I should clarify, I am not really looking for trade offers outside of Canada but a sale is not a problem. My trade interest would be for another bass (Musicman, Warwick, possibly a Fender) but would also consider a good acoustic guitar or even bass gear as well. :)

Thanks Max! I will likely regret selling this one and don't expect to see one again in my part of the world any time soon.
