Thanks!

The Longbow is an incredibly funny instrument. It is very limiting to only have an E and A string, but also very challenging. I've gigged with it, I've used it in some of our songs where I don't need a wide range and where I can stick within the first octave and it holds up very well.
The new ones are made of beautiful figured maple, with a bone nut, recessed ABM Mueller monorail bridge parts and two tiny stacked humbuckers, one for each string, that are custom made for the Longbow. The tuners aren't branded, but they work well and tuning stability is good. The maple is finished in a very smooth tung oil, and all edges are slightly curved, so there are no sharp corners.

The sound, to my ear, is somewhere between a Precision and an upright. It sounds very big and whoolly, but when plucked close to the bridge there's actually plenty of definition. They're great fun to play.

I hope this answers your question, if there's more, please let me know.

About the ATK's: this colour is called Transparent Black, but indeed it's much closer to a dark walnutlike brown. This is actually the colour I've come across most often on lefty ATK's on this side of the pond. Once in a while I see one in Amber come by, or an all-black Korean ATK300 lefty, but most are finished in this transparent black finish.
The lefty MIJ ATK's were discontinued in the late '90's I believe. After that, there have been some Korean models and a MIJ Prestige ATK1300 and 1305, but none of these were made lefthanded AFAIK. Shortly thereafter, the ATK series were discontinued altogether. It wasn't until 2006 or 2007 when they were reintroduced.

If it wasn't for that rediculous fingerboard inlay, I would actually have liked that Paul Gray signature ATK (even though I feel a proper ATK should have a rosewood fingerboard). There's also a beautiful transparent Burgundy Wine finish that looks very good on it:

Hi, recently found this form when I googled lefty bass. I’m new to bass, at age 52. In September I found a used lefty Washburn xb120 at a local shop. Also set me up with a teacher. I’ve been having fun with it since.

Nice site, especially when looking at basses for sale they’re all lefties. Not in the market for anything new yet, but it’s nice to look.

Hey Andrew, I wanted to play bass a long time ago, just never happened. This summer I saw a lefty bass at a local flea market. It was very cheap, don't remember the price. It got me thinking about it again. Funny I didn't even really look at it, because I wouldn't know if it was in good shape or not.

A local shop that deals with used equipment had the Washburn, needed some work. A few days later it was mine. Bought an amp from my nephew a '96 basic 112. Months later I'm still enjoying them.

Hello everyone! It is good to know that us lefties have all came together like this, its awesome.

I'm Dillon, 17 years old, live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and have been proudly playing lefthanded guitar and bass for about 3 years now, playing everything from bluegrass to classic rock to metal. (not so much of the latter ;) )

PS: Props on the site design, it looks great.

Hi!
My name is Mike. I'm on talkbass as "Che" but I'm more of a lurker. I spend (too much) time on offsetguitars.com
I am a university student in my 4th year, and I am planning on going into medicine.

I also write and record music (and i'm a big synth nerd haha). http://musiqueconcrete.bandcamp.mu in case youre interested in having a listen!

I am mainly a guitar player, but love playing bass as well. I own 1 Fender Jaguar, 3 Strats, and a sunburst Jazz Bass, which I've fitted with stack knobs and pre-CBS tuners (and a tort PG with a thumbrest)

cheers from Canada!

Aloha all...

name is Ian, live on the island of Oahu, otherwise known as Paradise. When I finally become too broke to be a musician, I re-finance myself as a finish carpenter, and hit the dusty gig trail as often as I can. Play in several Rock and Blues bands, manage to play a lot, and the money figures out to a minimum wage figure - most likely from the '70's!

Really enjoy this forum, and hope it grows a ton this year, as I would like to see multiple daily posts in all categories!

I'll throw up pics in all of the relevant threads asap. Big thanks and "Mahalos" to Andrew, and all of the people who make this site happen.

R&B Stretch Bass, Walter Woods 1000w Green-Light Stereo Amp, AccuGroove El Whappo and TR112, assorted axes, amps, cabs...

Hi, all, first post. Cool site! I'm actually a righty who was obliged to switch to playing lefty 23 years ago because of an injury to my left arm/hand, after playing righty for many years. Looking forward to connecting with other lefty players here!
