Gibson thunderbird feeler

for personal reasons i wont get into, im thinking of geeting rid of my lefty t bird. I bought it a few months ago from southpaw with the case for $1500. I may sell it, I might like to trade it but ONLY for a spector neck thru. Its vintage burst, just like I got it with the exception of some light scuffs on the back towared the top right, my damb shirt buttons on its first gig. I played it live 4 times. otherwise it smells new, no mods. I even have the strings it came with that i immediatly removed. Tell me what you think. All ive been playing is my spector lately. I do not know how to post pictures directly on this like everyone else does.

plus shipping? --lol....I never argue with anyone when it comes to "a seller putting a crazy price out there asking what they want" to charge and certainly if I wanted a lefty Gibson for 2.5grand+ I might go for it if it had the replacement bridge and 500bucks worth of Mike Lull pickups in it, but stock? -- haha not a chance.

again I'm not arguing what you are trying to sell it for on ebay or here so please let's not turn this into a "f-u if you dont like my price" thread. I can't afford it to justify a crazy price, someone else can. I'll buy a TB48L and toss 500 into it for Lull Pickups and have the same thing for less than a grand. Someone else may be a name whore and can actually afford to say they own a limited edition gib-bird-lefty and keep it for 30 years.

although if you get that much that would be a nice down payment on a new spector lefty.

I don't have anything on eBay, they few I had I sold for what I asked. Its simple, if u don't like it cool don't buy but why the tangent? It cost me $1500 its damn near as I bought it, and from what I see they're done making em. In every possible market that always increases value. But its a simple thing if I don't get what I feel I want it'll sit in the case no biggie. Is it worth $2000? Depends on who u ask. Personally I am still blown away by the quality.I wdve paid that price. Enough said

I'll just say this - and it's not in defense of the price or an argument against the above strategy - before I got my Gibson T-bird, before I knew they were going to make them a production run, I bought a Dillion T-bird from Jimmy and then gave it to Performance Guitar in LA who re-did the bridge, added EMG pick-ups, replaced all the pots/wiring with real Gibson parts, re-did the pick guard to not have the fake semi-T-bird logo on it and had them dress the frets, re-set-up, etc. I'm in it for WAY more than the new Gibsons and it's not as good. Way more neck dive, heavier, fatter neck profile (I have small hands).

Also, if you recall, the Epiphone T-birds that sold for $299 went as high as $1,400 on the secondary market before the Gibsons were announced. So, while I think now is too soon, if these stay a "one year" thing, $2,500 will seem cheap.

Only two vintage lefty t-birds I have ever seen were listed at more than $10,000. One sits unsold, but Gruen sold the other one.

Well, this thread got interesting.
I figure something's worth whatever someone will pay for it. And if he doesn't get the asking price now he'll sit on it, and if things hold, as in Gibson doesn't make (m)any more, I imagine he'll get it at some point in the future.

ok guys , it went round and round and ll that and yeah i got $3000 for it. I personally spoke with the buyer, turns out he bought one from me before. Short story, hes an older guy who has dreamed of a gibson since he was 16. when he eventually found out (not lucky like us here) it was tooo late, He called all around the country, nothing. Very disapoined, just for the hell of it he pulled up ebay (BTW he knew what it cost me). it took about 10 minutes for him to decide. yes, double the price. Outrageous, maybe but i only sold it to get something else without comming out of pocket. It wouldve sat in a case. to me basses are to be played not hidden away. i dont care if it is worth $20k in 10 years, i care about playing now while I can. So here we have a guy whose dream came true and I get a new spector...win win. Its still better than a $20 concert t shirt that goes up to $150 plus when a member of the band dies. Everything goes up rather dramatically when they are no longer made, or a simular situation ie limited number ect. We have a bass that was never made, and when it finally was, in very limited numbers. And FYI, a new spector euro 4lx lefty costs about $2400 or so WITHOUT a case, and theyve always been available, that should put it into better perspective. A USA goes for about $5000...CEPT THEY DONT MAKE EM! there ya go!
