Jam with Abe Laboriel Jr.

Post by mrkode »

Hi fellow bassists!

Here's a virtual jam I did with Abe Laboriel Jr.

A big thanks to Joe Testa, Andrew Tamulynas and Mark Wessels at Vic Firth for making this possible and to Abe Laboriel Jr. for his approval.

Hope you enjoy!

dude, awesome. I used to see Abe Jr. up close and personal back in the day with the Bruce Bartlett Trio at a club called Ryles in Boston (Cambridge). Imagine my surprise when I went to a McCartney concert and there he was playing drums for the good Sir. Nice job!

Thanks guys!

I would love to have the chance to play live with him someday. I've always felt a kind of feel and groove kinship in his playing.

The bass is a kind of mashup. It's a '62 neck on a '75 body. On the vid, it's plugged directly into an Apogee One, straight into Logic.

Dude, that was absolutely ridiculous... amazing job locking in with everything. It must have taken a bit of effort to memorize every bit accent and nuance.

Seriously awesome job... I mean that.

Wow! Thanks a lot man!

It did take some breaking down of the drum part and writing the bass line for each section.
