Amimbari's cover of Man on the Silver Mountain

Post by bhunt1 »

Just posted today:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZIa1LMN ... re=g-all-u

Played this album to death back in the day. Great cover as always by our forum member; at first when I was watching I thought - wait he's playing it in A not G - but the bass is tuned down. Also in the notes he says the bass is strung conventional lefty and he's just getting used to that, wow that makes this even more impressive :)

He basically nails it, then at the end he says "or something like that"... funny! :)

oh wow now I'm a flippen celebrity? ha-ha-ha.

and that is correct I never play normal strings so playing with the E on top is a thinking process since all the patterns are backwards for me.
That is why I never get bored, when I'm in a slump I just pull out the strung-correct unit and have a blast teasing my brain.

the ironic thing is I got that red series10 off of PunkRockBassist way back in Aug2011so I could have a spare and never used it showing him what it sounds like live. It just sat in the bag collecting rusty strings.. I dunno why it sounds so chorusy cause I didn't have it turned up too much on the preamp at all that I could hear in the room.

THANKS PRB :)
( the white one has a dimarzio dualrail/HB and a preamp )

the corus effect is probably comb filtering from mic placement. Try moving the mic around a few inches in any direction and give it another shot.

After listening to this song I had to rush to my pantry to find my old spandex outfit
Seriously, well done man...now, I thought you played with the E down (righty tuning) was I wrong? On the video you play regular lefty.

yes Frenchy I do play inverted. but I do like to jam normal to give my brain some excersize in "let's see what string comes next" futility.
It does take a few to re-orientate myself to the new string positioning, but as the notes and strings are still in the same place it is just a brain tease for the most part like I said in the other post.

This way I can go into the GC or wherever and jam on everything and get the kiddies to come watch me and ask "how can you do that" instead of migrating over to their slap-happy hero banging the strings like a drumkit

probably like most of the others here and thru the world who play inverted and learn everything by ear to start, once you know the neck and notes it is not a matter of what comes next anymore but remembering where to put your fingers.

I have a lot of lefty-normal vids posted, but live I will always play inverted. ( for now )
