I've always wondered if these beginner Uprights that show up on ebay are worth buying. Anyone here know?

No, but that's crazy cheap for an upright.

This is the one I lust over:

I definitely need another upright someday. I had to leave mine behind years ago when I moved. I have an EUB now, which is lots of fun, but not the same as the feel of an acoustic upright.

I have only owned a converted Dean Pace EUB, but I'd like to have another with a more radiused fingerboard because I'd like to learn how to use a bow.

Those cheapies never have any volume, in my (very limited) experience. I used to have a BSX eub (the same one David Enos used and advertised in Bass Frontiers), and it had a good neck for bowing, but I sucked at it so I just played it pizzicato.

Never tried one but I'd be very wary of buying an acoustic upright on ebay for that kind of money.
I suspect you get what you paid for or much less. It's not like buying an el cheapo electric that can do a serviceable job with some proper setup/mods.

Best to stick to reputable dealers who have a good reputation like Gollihur or Upton.
