1976 Jazz Bass

I saved this bass from an evil righty! Well, he's a cool guy... for a righty. But he had flipped it and put a strap button on the lower horn, etc. And that ain't right, er, left.

It's a 1976 Jazz Bass that's been modified with EMGs and an active preamp. It's been routed to hold the battery. The EMGs are hot, maybe too hot for me, so I may take it back to passive.

And as you may see, I strung her up with some DR Black Beauties.

I had to do a little setup work, but now it plays and feels great.

This bass is now for sale. Asking $1300 + shipping to CONUS, which is what I paid for it. Comes with original lefty case with a missing handle (it's been replaced by shoestrings).

I'll try to get some more pics up soon, including the preamp/battery rout.

I'm selling because I also have a Lakland JO and just can't justify keeping both.

Geoff (aka bbl) is a great guy and this is a cool Jazz bass. Nice and heavy the way I like them. Good player. I might just have to make my way over there and play her again before she's sold..... or take it off his hand...

You just did a good job restoring one 70's Fender bass, why not another?

Killin me Andrew....

I have GAS issues already and really dont need another bass to sit and not get played.... hence the reason I am selling some of my hi-end basses. They need to be played on a daily basis and if not..... well, it's a shame! Anotyher reason why older basses sound so good. The more vibrations in the wood, the better they sound. Thats what they do to the Road Worn Fenders. Put them in a machine and shake the hell out of them.. So I hear.

Yeah, this is a heavy bass. Thanks for reminding me, gravesbass. I'll put it on the scale tonight and post a follow up tomorrow.

The bridge is non-original. This is definately a player's bass. Also, while the case's handle has been replaced by shoestrings, all the latches work very well and it's very comfortable to carry. It also has the original Fender "decal" in the case, if that matters to you.

You guys crack me up. I am opening a lefty "only" bass store. GravesBassInstruments. This way I can GAS over all I want and not have to actually purchase it....

In reality, I love Jazz's more than P's but I kinda like the history of my P as it's from the original buyer from a store near me. I'll think about it but don't get any hopes up.... I put a lot of work into that P Bass restoring it.

"Graves Restoration Collection"... Nice!!!! Pretty soon that's what it will be. It's all about being meticulous with your work and good eyes. Shoot, Jeroen should be in restoring business.... Dude catches everything!!

Hah, nope that's how the outbox is supposed to work. It's different than the sent box. We've had that confuse a few people here, including me.

But it's a useful feature once you understand it's function.

Hey, fellas, after a lot of thought, I've decided to hang on to this bass for at least a little while. I just don't need to part with her right now, and I might replace the pickups, slap some flats on her and start playing her again. My sincerest apologies.
