Rickenbacker 2004 4003
I have a Rickenbacker 4003 2004 for sale in the fireglo finish. The bass is like new with the original HSC.
I'm asking $2500 firm + shipping. It is a very good price compared to what is going on these days for these basses.
I'll post some pics tomorrow, the bass is at the shop for set-up. So it will be ready to rock right away.

More PICS
As you can see, there is no fret wear at all. This one is like brand new with OHSC also and an extra set of vintage knobs.

Re: Rickenbacker 2004 4003
cool bass. i owned a 2004 4003 mapleglo, but it sounded very thin and weak compared to other 4003 of the same year, never understood why ... so i get rid of it in a heartbeat ... how do you describe the sound of yours ?

Re: Rickenbacker 2004 4003
Not thin at all!!! The neck pickup is very close to a P-bass IMO.
As far as the bridge, I like its jaco tone (yes I know it's weird but true).
And the blend of both is perfect.
I'll try to post some clips on soundcloud may be later today. I'll keep you posted,
Sly

Oh well nice tone !!
... i'm just discouraged a bit because of the "shipping + taxes" thing which makes the final price out of my current money availability ...
anyway good luck with the sale.

Re: Rickenbacker 2004 4003
Are you in the States???
If so, it is an american product (made in the usa) and it is returning in the us so no there shouldn't be taxes on that.
I'm actually a bit flexible to negotiate

Oh no ... i'm in the EU ... sorry.
The final price (supposed like 150$ shipping wich is the average shipping insured from US) would be something like 2500 + 150 + 0.25 * 2650 = too much for my pocket !!

Very nice Sly. I wish I had room for a Rick in my arsenal. I love this color and I am a black and gold guy. Beautiful Bass!

I just got that bass but I realized that I'm not a Ric kind of guy and it is a shame because it is a beautiful bass and it does sound good.

Re: Rickenbacker 2004 4003
Did you buy it new or used? I believe 2006 was the first year that Rickenbacker installed the push-pull knob to put a .0047µF cap in series with the treble pickup. I'm not sure if prior to that Ricks came with the cap installed already or if they had removed it altogether (Anybody know? They certainly had the caps installed in the 70's/early 80's models), but if you bought it used perhaps someone had the cap installed and you didn't know it? Without the cap, your sound would be much thicker and fuller, so the thinness of your bass sound might have come down to simply snipping the cap. Rick also changed the tone pots somewhere around that time to 330k ohm. Or maybe you just got a lemon, but I've found Rick's QC to be generally excellent.cangaroo wrote:cool bass. i owned a 2004 4003 mapleglo, but it sounded very thin and weak compared to other 4003 of the same year, never understood why ... so i get rid of it in a heartbeat ... how do you describe the sound of yours ?

Wow! It sure is interesting what's happening to bass values right now... I guess, what with all these Roscoes and Laklands hanging around $2000 or less it's difficult to justify spending more than $2000 on something like a Rick... no slight to your bass Sly and sorry for saying this... it just seems to be what's going on

Re: Rickenbacker 2004 4003
Well at around $2K I think this bass is still under the maket price of those rics in whatever condition.markcv wrote:Wow! It sure is interesting what's happening to bass values right now... And the ric basses have been around much longer then Roscoe and Lakland and prove there utility and reliability.
Of course I'm talking for my own sale
This is a great bass but I'm not a Ric player finally

Too bad I don't live in Montreal anymore. Maybe I should try to convince some of my left-handed family (we're all lefties!) to buy itslybass3000 wrote:Well at around $2K I think this bass is still under the maket price of those rics in whatever condition.markcv wrote:Wow!
