Fender Jaguar pROn
Our new video "Sparkle In The Dark" features dueling white Jaguars, one of which is my lefty bass. The video was inspired by our favorite 1970s rock movie Xanadu!

NOICE!!!
LOVE the video AND the song man.
One thing I have to say is that I really would have liked to hear you up in the mix more... especially since the song is so danceable.
Maybe you're not going for a "dance" style mix... and that's cool. But the song itse;f and the style of the video lend to that style very heavily, IMO.
Granted, my work computer speakers kind of blow as far as solid bass freqs go... but, I thought I'd pass that on anyway.
Regardless... VERY cool!!!

Damn fine piece of work that is! Who wrote the tune?
Can we get some details on the recording, like where it was done, did you get it professionally mastered, bass recording rig used, what kind of mic(s) was used on the vocal, and was lunch catered?
Listening to it on headphones, I'd say the keyboards are a bit too prominent and have a tendancy to wash out the rest of the mix. But I'll give it a listen tonight on my Tannoy's and see what happens.
Great job!

Ha ha - it's "pR0n". That's the code that the baddies in Grand Theft Auto IV use to screw up the search engines trying to block the porno site they created.andrew wrote:...is the thread title meant to say "porn" or "pron"?

Soundpool isn't "my" band, but I have been bass player whenever I can since they started. That track was co-written by the singer and guitarist, who also produced. It was recorded in his living room in the Poconos believe it or not, on ProTools. The bass was played directly in through AmpFarm or similar software. It was before I got the TC Electronic 450 head or I would have used that as it has an excellent direct out. I have no idea what the vocal mic was other than it was a condenser, probably a cheap one. No need for catering - the singer is a great cook!
Agreed that it is quite keyboard heavy. You can get a more accurate idea of what the bass and guitar really sound like in this 1 minute live excerpt where we are backing up composer Ulrich Schnauss (and it's really trippy as heck):

Really nice work. I love the ethereal quality of the song/band, and it reminds me of some of my favorite bands in that vein (I hear a little Lush and Stereolab, with perhaps a touch of Lamb and the Cocteau Twins?). Though definitely they have their own thing going on too.
