Tempting but that headstock is really distracting. May do it anyway. :x

I really want one of those!
Please let us know how they compare to the SX line.
I love my SX Jazz and I posted questions as to the quality of the Douglas basses on the SX mega-thread on TB but never got any responses.

I have been wanting a SCPB type bass for quite a long time and have been contemplating a Warmoth build because I could not find a production lefty (I'm looking at YOU Squier!! ) But if the Douglas is comparable to SX, then I know what I'm getting for Christmas! I'll Tele-fy the headstock myself.

Yeah, I've been wanting a SCPB-style bass forever, been looking at Warmoth off and on for ages too. I MAY not be able to get past the headstock. I could "widdle" it down to a Tele-ish shape, but would probably get a Warmoth neck for it.

Beautiful bass, it piss me off that getting basses shipped from Rondo to EU cost as much as the basses they sell, i've tried to ask Kurt for a cheaper shipping but he doesn't seem too interested in different solutions..
For what i've heard the only difference between the SX and the Douglas basses is the name on the headstock. If i'm not wrong even the headstock shape on the new Ursa Sx are exactly like this Douglas-P51's.
Austin; You've seen it's got a contour body and not the slab of a P51, right? Probably much more comfortable

Congrats! I've been curious about these as well.

FYI, there was a thread on Talk Bass regarding guys who've modified the headstocks on these to get closer in the ballpark of a Fender. Check it out here:

And judging by the cost Rod's paying for that stupid part, it might be more cost-effective for him to just buy a few dozen of these basses instead.

That's my hope!
I had every intention to get one of those Bach Tele Basses myself, but then I found my St.Blues P/J which I absolutely love, and then couldn't afford the Bach. But then I saw the Rondo, and I could afford that!
We'll see, I'll let ya know when I receive it.

Yes the bach Tele basses are nice. I seen the ST blues bass you have that is a very cool looking bass. Please keep us posted on the Rondo Tele!

Well, the wife says UPS just delivered it, but I'm heading to a gig which ends at 11 tonight which puts me at home @ 1AM, so I won't have a report 'til tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Ok, so I unboxed it last night when I got home from the gig(which was awesome), and the first thing I noticed was the nut is Jazz Bass width, which I like. Also, the headstock didn't strike me as THAT bad, tho' I do still plan to alter it. Bass was intonated and action was good. Gotta do my nut-swap, reintonate with new strings, and tweak the neck a little bit 'til it's flat. Single coil p/u had some hum when standing right by my amp, but that's to be expected. Also the sunburst is not as "severe" as in the website pic. Didn't get to play it really so I'll get back to ya on the sound, but the neck is NICE. Not heavy either, and seems to be put together well. Here's a couple phone pics I shot when I got home. Better pics to follow.
