I'd like to show the lads to you all.
First is "Wonkey Cat". My Wife named my KGB Status Series II replica, because she says the shape reminds her of a cat with one side of its head much larger.
This was made for me by local luthier Keith Bennion of Birkenhead, Merseyside, U.K. in 1986. Status didn't build lefties back then and when I contacted Rob Green he said that they probably never would, so I'm glad they do now. GAS for King Bass, must resist.
The bass has just been re-finished and a U Retro fitted at KGB Music.

Next is my ACG Recurve Singlecut 6 string. "Angus" was built last year by Alan Cringean up in Moffat, Scotland.
I chose the woods and specs but originally it was to be a four string but I had always wanted a six, so I thought why not. The neck has a completely flat board and an asymetric neck profile.
When I got the bass, I was amazed at the construction and sounds that it could produce. Its preamp is the heart of the bass, a filter based stack for each pup and a treble stack. I was also shocked at the steep learning curve ahead for getting use to the extra range, the low B isn't a problem but the high C string is a real challenge but I've got use to it and this is one incredible bass, world class.

And last but by no means least the Squier Precision "Percy" and the Fender Japan Jazz "Jerome K Jerome".
The Squier is a 1995 model I bought back in 2003. I fitted an EMG Precision pup and gave it a new bone nut and fretstone, it was transformed. I then got KGB Music to route for the Jazz pup and fitted the BTC preamp. I then fitted the Gotoh and now this is a killer bass, it plays and sounds incredible. One last change is a tort scratchplate.

The Jazz I bought from Japan. It's a 1999 model and was just a great sounding bass. When I unpacked it, it was so light and the sound when played acoustically was excellent. A bit of a set up and new strings and it was bingo!
Unfortunately, I am an eternal fiddler so when I had the opportunity to get some EMG JV's I stuck them in and it was even better but I don't get on with the fade on the A and D strings, so I bought a righty bass for parts and used the Badass, J Retro and standard EMG's on it to put in my Jazz. It has become a beast.
I haven't taken any photo's of the Jazz after the mods but I will do soon.

Nice basses and welcome. Is your 4 string Status copy headless?

There was a lefty Washburn Status Series copy for sale a month ago. Not sure how those compare to the real deal though.
