That Shuker looks great! It kinda reminds me of a Roscoe with sleeker contours.

finally - another builder who installs a MM pickup "correctly" :D :D :D

a personal pet peavey of mine is that most MM pickups are installed with the two ears up, leaving you precious little real estate to anchor your thumb. I always install mine with just the single ear point up, despite that fact that many find it laughable ... until they play it and go "oh, that's comfortable. why doesn't anyone else do it this way"

congrats to Shuker on bucking the norm and opting for what's comfortable!

all the best,

R

Seriously? Many find it laughable?

I have been goaded on it many times ... usually with someone making a comment like "oops! guess you got your pickup template backwards, eh?"

I've always thought of the MM pickup "two ears up" orientation as the first one being installed backwards by accident/mistake ... and to make everybody believe that they intended to do it that way, they continue to do so to this day. (or maybe the luthier of the first MM bass was really a lefty with alterior plans  )

all the best,

R

Another backwards-ism of the MM pickup (at least on my late 90's Stingray pickup) is the pickup slugs each have rounded edges on the bottom of the pickup, but not on the top where your fingers can rub on them.
