Music Man Sabre 1979 pre EB

Post by Bassaria »

Hey All-
Looking to sell my 1979 Music Man Sabre, pre -ernie ball of course.
Black on black with a maple neck
Original electronics, hardware, body, neck, tuners -everything except it has had a recent fret job that was much needed. done professionally by a great luthier outside Philly and now plays perfectly. It is strung righty, but I can switch out the nut if needed and reset. This is a great ax, just not for me. I think my Roscoes have really turned me into a tight string spacing guy.
So, as I do not hoard the axes i dont play, this one is going. You all know it is a rare bird - asking $1850 OBO and am open to trades in the high end jazz realm, ala Sadowsky.
Comes with a Hardshell case, not original.
Be well out there!

Beautiful instrument!
I considered buying one a while back (natural with rosewood board) but something else got in my way... I still have a thing for those Sabres though!

Would you be willing to ship to the Netherlands and, if yes, at what cost?

Hey Jeroen-
Thanx for the props on the sabre -it is a cool ax for sure. I would assume shipping to Netherlands would be about the same as Germany in price -last bass I shipped overseas ran me about $150 thru USPS but they would not do tracking as its out of their hands once it reaches the local post. i would assume the same for Netherlands. Last checked, UPS was about $250-$300 with tracking, using double box over a bass case. If having an non original case is not an issue, I could break it down and I'm sure it would be much cheaper -I can look into that further if you are interested.
thanx, rob

Any interest in this...I know it's not a Jazz type but it's pretty darn rare itself...

'80 or '81; I can't remember exactly when they used flat-head pole pieces.

Arg, just when I thought it was safe to look at the classifieds again.. What a beauty.

I don't suppose you'd consider a swap for a Ric 4003 of a similar age?

Re: Music Man Sabre 1979 pre EB...staying home for now

Post by Bassaria »

Hey ALL -
After a few more gigs and a retooling of the nut to slightly alter the string spacing, this bass is staying in my fold for now. It really does slam the funk, as evidenced on last nights horn band gig....have fun out there!
