I think I may have to try that. What kind of bridge, strings and tuners? Details?

nice job ALB, how are you handling the string spacing? Looks kinda tight to me, sorta like a Ric 360 type of spacing

Same spacing as the J.Jones Longhorn Bass VI I've had for decades, and the same as by Gretsch VI, so no prob.

Got the inspiration for the tuner layout from this old Teisco 6-string bass.

Just stuff off ebay, bridge, two tuners, nut, and a set of strings.

Is that bridge just a guitar bridge?

Very vice nice. Very tempting as well!
Fellow member LefThanDed also converted a 30" bass (Hamer Slammer) to a Bass VI.

Bass VI strings tend to run from .024-.095. Seems a bi much for a guitar bridge, so I am curious as well.

Same bridge as on my J.Jones Bass VI which I've had for years.
Total cost = $196.

Terrific job!
I see you switched out the knobs too. You might actually be able to go all the way with the addition of a 3rd PUP and the switches if you wanted. All Parts sells the Jaguar switches and switch plate.
Here's the real deal...for only $13,0000.

I can't seem to find a bridge to do one of these.
I have always wanted a bass vi and I desperately want to rip off this idea because it's a cheap option.

It's funny, I ordered a set of Jazz knobs, but the bass arrived with the proper knobs. I've thought about it, years ago I added a 3rd pickup to a Fender Jazz, up near the neck. And I installed a 3-switch Jaguar set-up. That bass is currently missing the neck so I might just part it out, steal the swtces and plate and a pickup.

I got one like my J.Jones Longhorn Bass VI has. Main thing to consider: The bridge sections have enuff room to properly intonate.
I had to widen the bridge hole for the low E a little with a drill.

So you took the bridge off an existing J. Jones bass? Or did you order a replacement from them?

And about how much did the bridge run you?

It's a Gotoh knock-off, purchased for this project, off ebay, $24.

Cool. So are there any problems from the pole piece & string alignment? Or is the volume cool across the strings?
