As stated above, what do you lefties do for a living? All of you professional musicians, or what? I don't exactly do anything for a living right now, since theoretically I'm a College/Polytechnic student, even though I've kinda dropped out to pursue other study options. I was studying to be a low rate BBA, but found out that the whole business thing really isn't my cup of joe. |

software architect for a major CAD/CAM/CAE company by day, bass builder by night and weekends. I had to lay down my playing due to business travel for my day job and building in most all of my other waking hours all the best, R |

I happen to fix recreational vehicles, ie: RVs. I dont enjoy it a whole lot, but it pays pretty damn well, which allows me to afford some stuff. So yeah, I'm an RV Technician. I've played in one band as the bass player (my most recent band which I have since left), the other bands I've played in I was lead guitarist (first band), and playing rhythm guitar in the other two bands. |

I've been playing nothing but music for over thirty years. I decided to start a real job (I never had a job outside of performing ever) so I went back to school and last May got a Masters in Library Science. I just got a part time job today working the references desk at a local community college. So today I can say I am a librarian who plays music on the side. Andy |

I have my own business (I import and wholesale opthamalic frames...."eyeglasses"!!) and I teach business classes part-time at two colleges...and I have four (college student) rental apartments ....and I play in a band about 4x per month! I'm a comedian! No, seriously...I'm a professional bassist, and bass repairman, for a very long time, 40 years playin' 35 or so repairing. Did a lot of other things, construction laborer, New York City bus driver- yes, I WAS Ralph Kramden! But now, God has blessed me with the good fortune of being able to make a living doing what everyone on this board loves to do...play the bass! |

I just got a second job,doing cataloging at one of Yale's 22 libraries. This past week I turned down two gigs, too long of a day. I never thought I'd find work that I enjoy as much as music, but library work seems to do it. Andy |

I am an environmental consultant, the company I work for performs soil investigations and soil remediations. Our main workload consists of cleaning up the mess after environmental incidents. These can be both major (bit incidents at petrochemical sites) and minor (for example, traffic accidents where damage to the fuel tank of a vehicle is inflicted and fuel has leaked into the soil). We can usually offer almost immediate support. After receiving an incident report, a team of specialists will clean up the mess above ground as quickly as possible and absorb all of the contaminant and the top layer of contaminated soil, making sure as little damage as possible is inflicted to the soil below. Usually they'll take some soil samples, that we have analysed to determine how much of the reported contaminant (usually mineral oil) has leaked into the soil. When the concentration of the contaminant is above the maximum concentration directed by our legislation, we can usually start remediating within 24 hours after the incident was reported, depending on the type and scale of the incident and the involved parties (both governmental and non-governmental). Our main clients are some major petrochemical refineries in the Rotterdam harbour area and a few (chemical) industrial companies, as well as insurance companies. |

Have you ever thought of playing at the "Abbey Road On The River" in Louisville, Ky? It's the last weekend in May, over three days. Was last there in 2005, and saw Beatles trib bands from all over the USA and the world. You guys would be one of the best there! As for me, I'm a finish carpenter, and "Renovasion-ist", which is a fancy way of saying I can do most anything when it comes to repairing or restoring houses. Don't care much for it anymore, but the money is good. The music scene here in Hawaii is geared too much toward Hawaiian tourist-style bands, but there are enough venues to support the classic rock, funk, and blues bands I enjoy playing in. |

fivebass52 yes, heard of AROTR, in fact they invited us a couple years ago but we were already booked on those dates. Haven't looked into it again. We gig so much around Texas(tho things are kinda slow this year so far) that we don't look to do much long-distance travelling(tho' the drive from Austin to McAllen takes all day). We have played as far west as Salt Lake City and to the east as far as Wash.D.C. but we're getting old, I'm 50, with a 10 month-old son, so we're pretty happy playing around Texas. Currently in rehearsals for our next orchestra show

Yeah, I can see why you would want to stay close to home. Just turned 57, and grew up with the Beatles, although I wasn't a rabid fan. The drummer in my classic rock band "The Strangers" is a huge fan of the Beatles and the Stones, so we play a fair number of their songs in our sets. It wasn't until I went to AROTR in 2005 that I got a true appreciation of The Beatles incredible diversity and impact on all music! Came away a rabid fan after the experience, and was able to see Paul McCartney in Seattle later that year. What a show! Since then, I've read all of the great books out there, and watched a lot of DVD's on their lives, and what shaped them as people, and as musicians. It must be a blast to play all of their songs, and watch the enjoyment it infuses in your audiences. And, after watching your video, I commend you and your mates for sounding perfect in doing so! I used to be a carpenter, wife and me started a graphic design company 18 years ago, kids appeared 7 years ago, been stay-at -home-dad for last 5 years. Played bass in various bands through it all. |
