I swear, I didn't mean to do it, but my guitar and bass collection is pretty much everything they play on Get Back. A couple of goodies like the Fender VI are a no go, but otherwise...

Silly isn't it? Buncha guys playing gear 50 years ago, and I'm nearly 60 and still bopping to it and jamming with it.

And me: Casino, Hofner, Ric, Tele, Strat, Les Paul, Jazz Bass, Fender amp. Pretty much got the major bases covered.

Do I sound like George and John on guitar? Not really. Paul on bass--a bit because I learned by playing with The Beatles among others--including Klaus Voorman, whose bass playing is probably as influential to me as Paul's.

I loved every second of Get Back. Can't wait to watch it again.

I'm a scholar of lit and pop culture; I'm old enough to remember the songs when they were new; and I can't remember when I wasn't fan. But fan or no, I see that they've become an important part of Western history and culture. And I analyze while I watch--old nerd game. As a musician and writer, I want to see them write and come up with arrangements. So yeah, I love every bit of it. Especially when Heather Eastman does an imitation of Yoko's scream-singing and everyone enjoys the fun. Yeah, every second.

I'm the same. Have to admit lately that I've been listening to a track here and there. I look beyond the pretentiousness of the art and give her as much credit as you could give the Sex Pistols. She's punk and she's like death metal--she screams out of joy, out of anger, and out of sorrow. I actually found myself enjoying a few of her songs or whatever they are the way that I enjoy some far out punk. Nothing like The Beatles or Stones, but it's interesting.

“Yoko Ono, oh no."

"Yoko Ono, oh yes."

As long as there is music, there will be the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass, just as we see them today, just as they were over sixty years ago.

Some things, like electronics, take a long time to develop and come into their own.

Others were created almost perfectly from their beginning and therefore became immediately timeless. So it is with these instruments.

Reverb did their "Best Selling Gear of February 2022" and I was pretty staggered to read the snippet below. Half a century later, the Beatles are still able to move gear like no one else. Even obscure, not particularly practical instruments like the Bass VI, which actually topped the chart, or the heavy Rosewood Tele seem to benefit by being touched by one of them. I was genuinely surprised to read this.

This is so monumentally true that it should be etched in stone and given a 24 hour armed guard.

Not sure how old you guys are. I was born in 62 and grew up seeing guitars for sale in every department store and even in hardware stores. The Beatles on Ed Sullivan is the group that launnched a million guitars. If you read interviews with 70's acts, you notice time and again the importance of The Beatles on their choice to become musicians.

Only 5 of my 18 guitars and instruments have never been associated with them. I might have gotten my Jazz Bass, jazz box, or Strats for different reasons. but the Strat is all over their records from the middle years, and the JB is a mainstay of the White album. They are significant in their music, just not popularly known to be.
