Hi there fellow lefty bassists,

Very nice to see a forum for left handed bass players.

I registered here last week and I thought a short introduction could be nice (don't know if this is the right place on the forum though)

Anyway,
I'm a longtime keyboard/piano player and music producer. Until recently I mosty hired bass players (or friends) to play bass parts when needed or I create bass-lines myself with synths or sample libraries. Playing a bass guitar was something I tried in the past (I had a Squier Jazz bass in 2010 but sold it), but I never persevered to really learn the instrument.

But that has changed!

I rediscovered love for the bass guitar and bought a Hofner Ignition (left handed of course with LaBella flatwounds) earlier this year and started practicing a lot (both with lessons online and a 'real' teacher). I'm a beginner when it comes to technique, but I make up for that with a lot of music & harmony knowledge :)

I like the short scale formfactor of the Hofner, but it's somewhat limited in sound. I'm also fan of the P-bass sound, so I was thinking in buying another short scale bass with a P-sound, but the market for such a specific instrument is not that big for lefties. I found a Schecter Banshee bass, Sire Marcus Miller U5 bass and Sandberg Lionel bass, but eventually I decided that l should not be too afraid of a long scale bass so this week DHL will bring me Fender Player Precision Tidepool LH bass! I'm looking forward to that... also bought some Elixir strings with it (because it got good reviews)

I wanted to keep this short, but failed :)

If anybody is interested in my music feel free to have a look at https://www.trigg.nl

Welcome indeed! If you need inspiration about what’s available in The Netherlands, you should certainly check out this post:

I wouldn't exactly call it "available", I don't recall ever seeing him advertise or sell anything. He's always buying

Welkom!
I'm not into selling ;) , it was already hard enough to find a lot of them, they come from everywhere and nowhere.

Apologies- what I meant by available was that these basses were available in your country (though some are perhaps easier to find than others), not that your specific basses were for sale…. Sorry for any confusion. Since I’ve been living in Taiwan I’ve learnt that what’s available differs greatly from country to country…

No apologies needed, my reaction was to confirm what Jeroen said.
I fully agree with your availability per country statement, most of my basses I bought in Germany.
