That is not a 1980 bass - they did not make the SB-1 in '80, and the headstock is the newer style. It is a cool bass tho

This is so not a 1980 bass. The bass below is my much beloved "never should have F'ing sold 1983 SB1."
Not sure what's going on with that ad. It's not a new neck on an old body - it's a much newer bass,
but I'm no G&L expert.

Early 90s or maybe late 80s. "Wave" headstock and serial number on the 3 bolt plate.

That pickguard is hideous.

Zoom in on the nut/ truss rod adjustment ( pic 4 ) Looks like pieces of the neck (head stock side of the nut) have broken off and been glued back in place. Possibly during a nut replacement or installation. Not a bad repair. Mostly a cosmetic issue. If there was a need to replace the nut in the future it could be a bit of an issue.
