I found this one a few days ago and kept it all to myself. I've been exchanging messages with the seller (very nice guy) and got him to take a lot more photos.

Besides the added J pickup, which at least was done nicely, this is a seriously rare and collectible bass. Not too many '73 lefties out there, not too many in olympic white, and almost no "A" neck lefty P-Basses (actually, I don't recall ever seeing one). That has to be seriously rare. And it's only 9 lbs. It's modded, but it's a the real deal: pickups dates, neck date, longer G-string intonation screw. . .

I almost jumped on it, but I'm not necessarily in the market for a bass right now (and I'm really finicky with having low action; I'm always wary if I can get that with these older basses), so I'm passing it on.

Seller is motivated to sell. . . ;)

Wow indeed!

Let's not forget to add a maple capped neck to the list of rarities.

Thanks for sharing this Lefty007. I rarely hang out on TB these days, but this listing might end up changing that ....

What do you mean by capped?

That it is a maple fingerboard on a maple neck? I don't think so, I believe it is a one-piece neck.

Anyway, it looks great, great bass.

Sly, that's for pointing that out. I mistakenly looked at the line of the finish above the truss rod as if it were maple capped. The eyes are the first thing to go. LOL

Hey guys, I'm sorry, I'm a terrible person. I just bought this bass. I couldn't resist. I had to try it. Seller tells me the neck is straight.

Just to try what a P-Bass with a factory "A" feels like is worth the effort.

I'll report on it when I get it. I'll be traveling so I asked the seller not to ship until mid-next week.

Don't hate me because I'm weak. At least you all know I have it, and I can always be persuaded into selling whatever I have. . . :D

Ha!
I saw that this morning and even told the seller about this site and Arni's site as another avenue for him to find interested buyers! :D

I'm glad you bought it 007, congrats on a great bass!
