That Hipshot bass xtender doesn't help the ASAT neck balance issue...

I used to own one of these. It's one of the only basses I ever sold off, and that's saying a lot since I never sell anything.

Where do I begin? It sounded great, just like an L2000, but mine was one of the most uncomfortable basses I've ever played. It looked great but weighed a ton and felt like it too. (Mine was a natural finished ash). The lack of an upper horn meant that the bass strap hung the bass closer to the left side of your body and down across your chest, making the first few frets of the neck feel a mile away. Playing up the neck caused your arm to bend in an awkward position to reach upper frets. I played it out a couple of times, but it was exhausting to play for any length of time. The balance issue you mention was there, but the bass luckily comes with two strap buttons mounted on the heel, and I was able to overcome neck dive by looping my strap through both heel buttons.

I don't miss it.
