These have a bit of a cult following and are highly regarded as "The poor man's Jazz". I would concur, though I think they're slightly fuller and beefier in tone than a typical J. With a very reasonable BIN of $175, this is probably the best MIA instrument you're likely to find at this price:

Did Peavey ever make lefty T-40 basses?

Nope. That's the model I'd love to see lefty.

That was actually my first true lefty bass back in 89 and I really enjoyed it.I sent it off in a trade deal at the old Pyramid guitars in Detroit for a right handed Ken Smith Burner 5 that I played for years until Carpel problems caught up with me.It was a right handed bass and the balance wasn't bad but killer tone for the buck.

I picked up a lefty Foundation a few months ago on le'bay... I really dig it.
It looks exactly like the one in the first post.
Fast neck, great tone, built like a tank.
That said, I sure would love a left-handed T-40.

Wow, sombody got it for $99.

Through a strange twist of fate I got the body and neck for one for free. I bought the pups from a forum member (can't remember which forum though) all I need is the bridge, pots and knobs and I can get it under construction. Unfortunately the original "P" top hats are too dang expensive (who would have thought that Peavey knobs would be collectables? ) so I'll come up with something else.

I'm going to strip off the old paint and repaint it Daphnae Blue.
