That's interesting although I would not pay over $1000 for a Ric copy, even a good one.

Are they any good compared to a Rick? I've never heard one but it does look nice!

Not sure about this Ric copy but Ibanez made some good Fender copies during the same period.

The auction has been removed ... maybe it's been shut down by ric

anyway the ibanez copies are very good sonically speaking. i recently heard one live and i can say that it nailed the classic rick sound. in youtube there is a guy posting beatles basslines with a ibanez mapleglo copy but with rick trc, anyway you can't tell the difference ...

I love mine. I'm sure these are really rare in Lefty and even more so in that finish, mine was the only one I'd seen until that listing. It so happens I found it in the UK too, so that might have been about the only market where these got distributed in Lefty. Build quality is very good as is typical of late 70's Ibanez copies, and yes it nails the Rick tone, albeit with a bit more mid/ bottom punch to it- which to my way of thinking is ideal, I don't have to make much amp adjustment going from a P or a J bass to this.

It's back up again, all references to Rickenbacker have been carefully removed:

It's an awesome bass, even though it's riddled with "dinks."

Shipping to UK only?

Sharp looking bass, Carmine. And at least Ibanez had the decency to give us a "true" lefty with the proper headstock/face plate too. I'm guessing the bolt on neck has something to do with the improved mid/bottom punch you described.

There was also an Ibanez version with neck through body :)
Not sure what model though.
