These have been around for a while, but I lost the name of the company and only found it again yesterday. Technically, it's better set up for a lefty than righty if you were to flip it, though I won't be responsible for any potential disturbances in the time space continuum if you did. ;) Nevertheless, this could easily solve the dilemma of deciding whether or not to be left handed when starting out:

The guy is Stig pedersen from D.A.D. an old danish rock band. He's got the most weird basses i've ever seen, all two strings. Here's a few:
