It is because it's a "Tibias" bass

Just an FYI: I emailed the seller for more shots and details. It's a left handed Tobias factory strung righty (upside-down). The headstock is even upside-down and not noted in his listing. It does have a very nice cocobolo top tho!

I got some pics from him. Looks nice except I'm not a fan of a backwards headstock nor the Wilkinson bridge. the backwards headstock is just not right. It's almost like I can't imagine Michael Tobias doing that.

I believe that Michael Tobias just used one of his right handed neck thru necks and glued on the wings of the body since it was righty strung. I had a neck thru Pedulla Buzz Fretless 5 that was custom built for Jeff Schmidt and it was the same... righty neck strung righty on a lefty body.... plus it had 2 tuners on top and 3 on the bottom. I hated that... :?

Hey Mark... Yea, I just like my lefty basses to be true left handed (strings in the lefty direction, headstock correct and all). I must say Jimmy Haslip sure doesn't have any problems played righty reversed. One of my favorite players to see live. Still dont know how he does half the stuff upside-down.

with enough training anything is possible, but there is a video that humanizes him alittle bit on youtube, its him recording Havana for the word of mouth jaco big band cd and, its kind of refreshing to see an elite player's player like himself have trouble with the melody and changes
