I visited the Carvin Factory last year in Sacramento, CA. I must say, the quality control on those basses were pretty damn good for a company that gets little respect in the bass community. I had a 2005 Carvin semi-acoustic 4 string fretless that killed! I miss it to sometimes.

That is a beautiful bass! I think maybe some of the negative opinions of Carvin are due to the older ones supposedly having not so good electronics (the older 9v system). I have an LB70 with the 18v and I think it's great sounding, and the build quality is also really good. I wonder about the soapbar pups on this one - anyone know about them?

Ask Jeff....... http://www.youtube.com/user/zoltarbass# ... sctkSjnx50 He owns many basses but seems to favor his Pedulla and MTD over the Carvin but can you blame him?? I have pics of the Carvin in my pics on my box. I think that bass is awesome and was tempted...I owned a recent model with the MM open pole neck pickup and jazz neck including the Piezo in the bridge. The neck was killer and had an ebony board the was amazing. Still to this day that bass sounded better than any bass I have owned UNPLUGED the tone was really nice and I'm am not a fan of NT but it was great. As soon as I plugged it into an amp it went from Carmine Electra to Oprah Winfrey if you know what I mean, limp bizcut in seconds. The tone blows! Build quality is great and if Barts would fit into the pickup cavity without mods it would be great. Another reason I dig Warwick, yes they have their own "MEC" line but you can order EMGs or Barts and different preamps. They "get it"
