With the lack of effort put into establishing the provenance of the bass, I assume the seller is Paul Frazier himself.

Excellent job at establishing provenance Tim. Maybe you can get a commission.

Ha ha, it looks like a really nice bass. I'm not into jazz basses, but if someone else were interested and reached out to the seller for details, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they ended up talking directly to Paul.

I reached out to Paul directly. No response yet.

He updated the description:

"I am the only owner in this base was brand new in 1974."

And more details about condition.

Maybe it's me but $5K as a starting bid is very high for an item that only has two pictures, does not note if it includes a case (no picture of case either) then has a type-O in the description "including Now Rogers and Chic, Chaka Khan and many others". Not saying the bass is not real and has history but for starting at 5K you need to put a little more work into selling it. I figure it's one of those let me put it on Ebay and if anyone buys it great if not I'll keep it.

Of course it was brand new in 1974... just like my 78 was brand new in 1978... sheesh!

Y'all are being awfully hard on a fellow lefty old-timer selling a single-owner Fender that millions of people have heard played.

Yeah you are probably right :)

In reading the listing again it seems the typos are a result of doing text to speech. Still, in the absence of some unknown issue that prevents him from typing or something, I do agree, a little more effort put into the listing would give this a little more validity.

I have confirmed that this is, in fact, Paul Frazier selling this bass.
