Wonder what the story is here...looks like it's been played pretty hard. No reserve auction could mean a good deal for someone....

Somebody spent a boatload of money and it winds up in a pawnshop. The Bass has stolen tattooed on on it. I picked the wrong week to not be flying through Texas.

Mark White is the lefty bassist for the Spin Doctors. Appears it was made for him. Its an older MTD.

I may be mistaken, but I thought Mark had popped in here before when his rainbow bass came up for sale...maybe he'll chime in and give us the scoop.

You are correct. I remembered the same thing:

I remember when that thread popped up again last May right around when I was becoming a regular lurker here. Something about the tremolo sounded cool so I looked around elsewhere for more info. It's funny the way Mark pops up in random forums. In one place he kept scolding one of his students to get offline and go practice. I giggled for a sec and was like, yeah, I should probably go practice, too.

Sold for $536. I would have bid up to $300, but I couldn't find its provenance...

I bid $255 but stopped after that. I figured it would have at least gone up to 1,000+, Guess not. The seller has to be kicking at that low price. Some work and a refinish could possibly made that bass a great player.

Unless the buyer is from Santa Cruz, in which case he's good to go now!

That's a tidy little bump, isn't it?
