Thanks, guys!
I think I should retract my previous statement. I am no longer miffed about the $187 because it is probably better that I had it shipped home anyway.

So you guys are pronouncing it like, "Zahn." I have been pronouncing it "Zone" this whole time! Ha! Thanks for the correction!

I’d never given it any thought, but Superheavy got me digging: Here’s the man himself, with an intro:

Well, there it is, right from the man himself! It is "Zahn."
But, the model is "Sohnus," not "Sahnus," so I did that get that part right!

Thanks! It arrived today! I was originally scheduled to be home this morning, but my trip has been extended, so I won't get to play with it until Tuesday night.

Until then, I will just have to imagine what it will sound like, and think about what I should use to clean it up. It looks dusty. I don't think it would be a good idea to use something as harsh as mineral spirits. Maybe IPA? Maybe just some water would be good enough.

Well, I would love to give this bass a spin, but I can't find my speakon cable! Grrr! I can't for the life of me figure out where it could have gone!

It is a little annoying, but it is so perplexing that I can't be angry. I have one amp. I have one cab. The cable has no other use. Why would it not be with one of those two devices?

Oh, well. I guess I will pick one up tomorrow. I need to get some F-one oil, anyway. I thought the fretboard was dusty in the pictures because I thought it to be carbon. But it is a very dark wood, so I guess the gray patches are where it is very dried out.

I just know that as soon as I buy one, I will find the one I have. I guess it can't hurt to have an extra.

EDIT: I found it! Woot! Bass time!

Congrats on the bass, they don't come around too often. Looking forward to your impressions once it's all cleaned up and rockin' like it should!

@superheavydeathmetal -- No real pics, no proof you got it. Let's see some REAL pics. Those pics on eBay were horrible. ;)

 Fair enough! Look for an NBD thread with plenty of pictures and a full review late tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Right now, it's out of commission. Here is a teaser picture:
