Another one that’s not my usual vibe, but I love it.

Literally my dream bass.

Technically, it's an Exploiter = Explorer body with Persuader electronics. medium scale.

Oh gawddamn, the ghost of a mini-John Entwistle is doing blow off my shoulder and urging me to buy it and play it when I'm in a room full of strippers and Pete Townshend!

For godssake, I want that monster.

Shut up, Ox. I've got enough basses. And get that whore out of my ear.

Are we sure this is a Persuader bass? When I Google that name up comes a whole bunch of Alembic YouTube clips, but none show this body shape.

Like Pete mentioned, it's a Exploiter bass, not Persuader.
I simply copied the name on the listing but the seller is selling it for his dad.
Funny this is the only PJ Exploiter I've seen so far, if you google images of this same bass, most have humbuckers and looks like very few in a JJ configuration but not PJ.

It might be one of those Alembics where you start out with a model and choose a different body shape. I think the ordering process use to or maybe still does allow someone to say they want a Persuader with various options but an Exploiter body shape. Good question on those PJ's and how do they sound vs MXY/AXY which are still single coils but I'm sure very different sounding.

I see he relisted it higher on Reverb. Still technically a bargain. I'm sure it needs some cleanup though.

I love those basses but they naturally sit first position so far away. Short arms here.

HAHAHAHA !! Busted by Paulo !! Good catch man !

Just working on it now. It's a MAJOR cleanup effort but salvageable. I'm going to call on Joe (thumbslam) and his mastery to work on the more difficult parts. There is a TON of work to do on it but seems generally structurally sound.

I knew it!!
Congrats man I'm sure it's well worth it and that's a one off Alembic!
I sent Joe maybe 3 basses in the past and I was very happy with the quality of his work not to mention he is a good friend.
You made all the right moves! :)
Cheers and don't forget to add some pics to the LB gallery!

When I bought my '94 Epic from forum member billw97, I took the bridge completely apart and re-polished it ( it wasn't anywhere Near as corroded as yours...) thought I had a polished shot, but here are pics... the bridge is now a bit tarnished, but no longer has the oxidation...

That is really nice there Five. Ah that 5'er was from Bill ? What a great guy.

So I have an email into Alembic. I'm hoping Mica can jump in with some thoughts and suggestions. I will be hitting their parts store like mad. Lot's of corrosion here but I don't see moisture damage to the body or neck though tons of nicks. I expected much of this. There is body damage at the jack but I have seen that on so many top mount jacks. I wish builders would use the side but then again these are skinny in depth.

It's now been gutted. So far casualties have been the 12'th marker and what I believe is the filter pot. It's looking like a refret but Joe will assess that one and I plan to strip it down once I get word on a safe sanding process. I'm also debating having the hardware chromed.

Look at this pile 'o mess...
