Thanks for the replies!
I did end up grabbing a Martin B-65 from ‘94 in amazing shape. It’s close to needing a neck reset (typical for the age), but it still has a few more years in it. They just don’t make them like this anymore. Thick solid black chunk of ebony for the fingerboard and the bridge ...

Howdy, strangers!
I still lurk, but I've been gas-free for so long, I'm never really on the hunt for basses anymore, so I haven't had anything important to add to the conversation.
Anyway, a few of the guys in one of the projects I'm in want to put together a little acoustic trio, so I'm on the ...

Hey everyone... long-time-no-see! I lurk occasional, but haven't had any reason to post, really. Hope you're all well.
Anyway, I'm selling some stuff and I'm starting with this guy. If it doesn't sell here, it'll go to Reverb at a higher price.

DUDE!!!
So crazy... I'll echo what others have said and just say I'm glad you're on the rebound.
If there's anything I can do to help as far as listing or editing pics or whatever, let me know.
I'd be happy to help.
Get better!!!

Re: Lots of vintage basses!!
This site has been talked about several times on here.
Great collection of basses to be sure, but, not sure if you noticed, they're all priced WAY high.
$8800 USD for a '69 Jazz bass?!?
Those prices are mostly way above an appropriate value and some people have even speculated that the ...

Re: NBD - G&L L2500 Redburst
The second issue is that the saddles themselves are so massive, I've actually bottomed out the G string trying to get the action as low as I like it, and it's still a bit too high for my preference (it plays noticeably tighter than the other strings). The neck is already arrow straight (with no ...

Re: Rick Bass with Wammy Bar
When I worked at Guitar Center in Berkeley back in '93, a used lefty Ibanez SR800 with a Kahler bass tremolo came in.
It also had Bartolini pickups which weren't so common back then. It was just such a weird bass all the way around.
I wanted it so bad... but I was broke (I worked at GC... DUH ...

Re: Gibson T-bird on the 'bay
Yeah, I thought about that as well, or at least I've considered replacing them with brighter pots. I assume they're supposed to be 250k? I'll have to open it up and check to see what's installed in there.
500k pots are brighter than 250k and are what are commonly used in guitars with humbuckers ...

Cool!!! So glad it worked out for you Syl... the Fender Custom Shop is really on top of its game these days (as is pretty much the entire USA line of basses), and that bass is just so damn sexy!!

This same photo has been used in like a dozen listings now... I'm assuming it's some kind of BOT or virus that creates these listings under other people's accounts after they've been hacked.Agent00Soul wrote:How did you find out the listing was fake?

Re: Spector Euro6 LX -- $1,450
I've never understood the hang-ups with switching to more strings. Once you get over the physical part of the adjustment (neck width, string skipping, etc), ERB's are actually EASIER to play, IMO.
If you really think about it, it should be much harder for a 6-string player to play a 4-string than ...

Re: Quick release foam mute?
The Gruv Gear Fret Wrap is a great idea, as demonstrated here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9BpkT4fDUM - but I don't do tapping etc., and don't want it cramping my fingers on the first fret....
The muting in that video is being done with his palm.
A fret wrap isn't a playable mute like PJ is ...

Re: Quick release foam mute?
Ive been wanting to check out a "Fump" for a little while...
http://www.gruvgear.com/fump
Not exactly what you're looking for but a lot easier than installing a chunk of foam.
