replacing felt in a case

Hey guys. So I've got this fender case that's made for a righty p-bass. I was hoping there might be a way I can re-purpose it to fit my lefty j-bass. I noticed that the felt/mold comes right out, so I was wondering if there was a resource where I can get a replacement felt/mold, either a lefty j ...

Re: comparing j-bass pickups

I am not sure what year your bass was made but keep in mind that until 2004 (or 2003?) the MIM Fender Jazz had a Basswood body. Now they have an Alder body like the American STD. In my opinion it makes a world of a difference that pickups won't overcome.
RIght on the cusp. The serial number starts ...

Re: comparing j-bass pickups

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the feedback.

It is a tough call. Sometimes you are better off selling your bass and getting something else that won't require some mods.
Frenchy, you're totally right, and that was something I was thinking about. The reason I got this one is because I ...

comparing j-bass pickups

Hey guys

Just bought a MIM J-bass off of craigslist and looking to mod it up a bit. As far as pickups are concerned it's a bit overwhelming. Even from just a quick cursory search I found about half a dozen options. Do you guys know of any resource that compares and contrasts pickups? Either with ...

I really appreciate all the feedback guys.

Lefthanded, that's actually the one I was looking at, good catch. Saw it on craigslist, I didn't realize it was a music store, thought it was an individual seller.

The more I look at it though I think it might be a bit too beat up for my taste, and not in ...

Is that what that is? I thought it was just differently shaped.

Like I said, the body has got quite a bit of wear on it, but the price seems to give me some wiggle room to upgrade it.

japanese j-bass...or is it?

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the board, or I should say I'm new to posting to the board, and as my first post aside from the introductory one, I was hoping to get some advice.

So I was looking for a new backup bass and I saw this craigslist post for a lefty Japanese J-Bass. The seller was asking ...
